Do estate agents still really need to showcase properties in their High Street windows?

Notting Hill, London / United Kingdom – July 18th 2019: Estate agent windows in Notting Hill

Broadcast and buy to let property investor Phil Spencer writes in Estate Agent Today about the future of the estate agents office on the High Street.

Now that the government has this week allowed non-essential retail shops to reopen, will many of the estate agencies be busy?

“For most of us getting a much needed haircut is going to be the immediate priority,” writes Zah Azeem, a Partner at Wimbledon based Chartered Surveyors, Scrivener Tibbatts.

“For those of us with a professional interest in the property market, the reopening of non-essential retail raises a number of questions around the future of estate and letting agents’ offices.

He continues, “Of course, many agents have opened their branches throughout the current lockdown to allow staff to work and to host occasional visits made by consumers on an appointment-only basis. But is showcasing available properties in branch windows still important? I’m not so sure.

“Although Phil Spencer puts forward a convincing case that it is, in spite of the internet.”
