Celebrating 15 years of ALEP

Leasehold enfranchisement includes the processes of lease extension, freehold acquisition and the correction of management problems within leasehold properties. ALEP (the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners) exists to ensure that specialists involved in this sector adhere to an agreed level of conduct and service.

I’m delighted that Scrivener Tibbatts has been a member of ALEP since its inception, 15 years’ ago, writes Clive Scrivener, Founder Partner of Wimbledon based Chartered Surveyors, Scrivener Tibbatts.

Membership of this professional association is a badge of assurance – to leaseholders and freeholders – that they can be sure of a consistently high level of service, integrity and professionalism. In a nutshell, if you’re extending your lease, or buying a freehold from a firm that isn’t a member, you’re probably making a mistake, in our opinion.

The Association is non-political and acts in an independent capacity to ensure the quality and integrity of its membership in pursuit of best practice in all matters concerning leasehold. Its membership encompasses business that work with both freeholders and leaseholders, with the common aim of providing expert advice and support to their clients. Why would you not want to use an ALEP member?

The Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners might have a long name, and still only be a teenager, but it’s achieved a great deal in its first 15 years, and we’ll be happy to support it for another 15 years.
